Filming Continues:
Yesterday we began filming our segment on the NorthStar Center of Lansing. The NorthStar Center is a radical community space and events venue committed to social justice and building a culture of resistance. They are a great organization whose dedication is apparent in every aspect of their work.
Last night NorthStar hosted an event by the Beehive Collective called “The True Cost of Coal.” Thankfully, NorthStar, the Bees, and the Basement 414 were all gracious enough to let us capture the event. We had a great time sitting in on the presentation, as well spending some time with some of the NorthStar crew and the Bees afterward.
We are extremely thankful for NorthStar being a part of this project, and are looking forward to meeting up them again very soon.

First weekend of shooting complete.
We just finished up our first weekend of shooting for Y&IL in Lansing with the guys from Bermuda Mohawk Productions. It started out with a few bumps but finished as strong as we could have hoped for. We came back with a lot of great footage and ideas for future shoots. Cale and Scott are were incredibly gracious and we couldn’t be happier to have them on board.
Also, Revue Magazine’s first Mid Michigan issue mentions Young & In Love. We’re real excited about this. Check it out here. http://www.revuemm.com/images/stories/pastissues/mmoct09.pdf
A few photos from the weekend.

So much progress made in the last week.
The script has been written and rewritten into what is the final draft. For now.
We have also ordered some new equipment to use during filming. New lenses and microphones soon! Super excited.
And finally, tonight we sent out the proposal emails to the potential interviewees of the film. This is obviously a huge step, and are extremely excited to hear back from them.
Filming is going to start the first week of October, and will continue through the end of the year.

What exactly is Y&IL ?

Young & In Love is a social documentary exploring the culture of young adults striving for change. We are determined to show the hard work and dedication this generation is asserting to genuinely make a difference, despite an economic recession and poor global conidtions. In short, Y&IL will document great people doing amazing things to benefit the world around them.
Young & In Love will explore our own state of Michigan to find inspiration. There are so many people working to uplift their communities in our state, even though our economy has taken a harder blow than most. This, in our opinion, makes Michigan the ideal place for this film to be created.
About the filmmakers:
Andrew Juhl: Andrew is a former film student/aspiring filmmaker who has studied several different types of filmmaking, from motion picture direction in Michigan, to wildlife film production in South Africa. Y&IL is his first social documentary, and he is eager to turn his ideas into a well crafted, feature film. He currently works as a freelance videographer all over Michigan, and other parts of the midwest.
Vincent Suchanek: Vincent is a recent graduate of Michigan State University, where he obtained his BFA in Sculpture. As part of his sculpture Vincent has been experimenting with video installation, and is ready to translate this work into a coherent, creative film. Along with Young & In Love, Vincent is working towards further school studying Industrial Design.
